Application Guide
The Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, seeks to achieve a more prominent international reputation through their increased involvement in the exchange of students and researchers as well as joint research projects. Our program now offers interdisciplinary courses in which lectures, instruction, seminars and research-related supervision are given entirely in English. Eligible students can now sequentially attain both a Master's and Doctoral degree from Osaka University, a leading Japanese University, while having minimal to no experience in the Japanese language. These highly qualified and globally recognized graduate students will not only participate in cutting edge research, but also gain a sophisticated understanding of advanced engineering science topics. In this course, globally recognized and highly qualified graduates are expected to be educated under the guiding principles of the Graduate School of Engineering Science, which strives to integrate science and technology. Osaka University Tuition Fee Exemption for International Honors Students
Osaka University provides a tuition fee exemption system (Tuition Fee Exemption for International Honors Students) for privately-funded international students who are of excellent academic standing in the graduate school entrance examinations. For details, please refer to the application guideline for the Special Program "Engineering Science 21st Century“. You can find the Appendix with details of this system at the end of the guideline.
How to Apply
STEP1 Read the Guideline over carefully.
STEP2 Find the professor (laboratory) that best matches your field of research.

STEP3 Be sure to contact the Admissions Assistance Desk/AAD (*) before getting in touch with the professor
of your choice.
You need to receive approval in order to contact the professor.
(*) Admissions Assistance Desk/AAD is an application support system for those who
apply from an overseas university, serving as a liaison between students and
their prospective supervisors.

STEP4 Contact your prospective supervisor/laboratory after receiving approval from AAD.
STEP5 Submit the necessary application documents.
[Note]
- 1. It will take at least three weeks for AAD to process your application. Make sure to apply to the AAD
service well in advance before the program deadline. - 2. Applicants who are currently enrolled at the Graduate School of Engineering Science are not required to
take STEP 2 through STEP 4.
